Pedersen Åsheim was appointed to her role in October last year. Prior to this, she served as political adviser for the Minister of Fisheries from January 2017.

The panel, led by IntraFish Editor Elisabeth Fischer, will tackle the questions around what prevents women from joining and staying in seafood leadership and how can the industry bring more women on board.

Pedersen Åsheim will be joined by Torunn Knopf Halhjem, senior director of global species at Seattle-based Trident Seafoods; Tone Bjornstad Hanstad, equity research analyst at DNB Markets; Tine Hammernes Leopold, CEO of Salmon Brands; and Lara Barazi-Yeroulanos, CEO of Kefalonia Fisheries.

After the massive success of last year's Seattle event, the Bergen summit will, once again, bring some of the industry's most prominent and promising female executives together to discuss the burning issue of how to make the seafood industry's leadership more diverse.

A packed line-up of some of the industry's most impressive female leadership will lead up to the panel, promising delegates an evening to remember and inspire.

Held in conjunction with the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) conference in Bergen, Norway, on March 8, and with sponsorship from Trident Seafoods, Deutsche See, Verlasso and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), the event will bring together top execs from the world of fishing, aquaculture, processing and distribution to give fresh perspective on the challenge of attracting diversity and talent in the world's seafood industry.

IntraFish first launched the Women in Seafood initiative with a series of interviews with key female leaders in 2015 to a resounding response to push the issue further up the industry's agenda.

In response, IntraFish held the first Women in Seafood Leadership Summit in Seattle last year.

The event was an overwhelming success, with charismatic speakers from Whole Foods, Trident, Icicle Seafoods, Love the Wild, Seafish, ASMI and Regal Springs making for a high-energy evening inspiring change and renewed drive in the industry.
