Fisheries ministers in Sweden, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark are not doing enough to prevent fisheries landings from exceeding total allowable catches (TAC) levels in the northeast Atlantic, according to the New Economics Foundation's latest report.

Every year scientific bodies recommend catch levels for sustainability, which fisheries ministers base their TACs on for commercial fish stocks.

The research and policy group blames ministers for being the most responsible for impeding the transition to sustainable fisheries in the European Union.
