Skretting pledges $2 million towards alternative feed

The funding will be pledged at the Our Ocean Conference in Oslo this week.

Feed giant Skretting has allocated $2 million (€1.8 million) to develop alternative ingredients for aquaculture feed in 2020, citing the aim of creating "clearer pathways for these much needed innovations to reach sufficient scale."

The funding will be pledged at the Our Ocean Conference in Oslo on Oct. 23. The event is organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a mission to build partnerships among stakeholders.

Skretting has also established working relationships with a number of innovators and start-ups.

Collaborative efforts are needed in order to get these alternatives to scale, said Trygve Lea, sustainability manager for Skretting.
