Namibia's Tunacor opens new horse mackerel factory

The new facility will also be the first fishing factory to run on solar energy.

Namibia-based fishing company Tunacor opened a 4,000-square-meter horse mackerel factory, increasing its workforce to 2,500 people, reported All Africa.

The new factory will be fitted with solar panels, making it the first to operate on solar energy.

According to Fisheries Minister Bernhard Esau, at least 250,000 metric tons will be added to onshore value by 2022, bringing the total allowable catch for horse mackerel to about 70 percent capacity.
